PULSE Greater Washington’s 5th Annual Paint the Town Red Gala

Thursday, October 2, found us attending PULSE DC’s 5th Annual Paint the Town Red Gala to benefit The American Heart Association Greater Washington Region at the Carnegie Institution for Science.

AHA PULSE is a group of young professionals active in the mission of the American Heart Association. Their mission is to ensure that the next generation won’t have to fight the same battle.

Upon entering, we visited the step & repeat where guests held up signs declaring why they supported the mission of the American Heart Association. EpicureanDC supports the AHA because “prevention saves”.

As we sampled the night’s signature cocktail, “The Red Pocket Square”, we mingled with other guests and the event chairs, where we learned more about their mission and how to support this wonderful cause.

There was a huge variety of food to sample. Our favorite was the Seared Ahi Tuna on Rice Cake. As we snacked on the beautiful hors d’ oeuvres offered, we made our way over to visit the silent auction where we were happy to learn that many local restaurants generously donated to this cause. The donors included Richard Sandoval’s El Centro and MASA 14, The Fish Market, Hank’s Oyster Bar, Irish Whiskey BarAcqua Al 2, Drafting TableBarcelona and donations by the EatWell DC group.

Next, the Paint the Town Red Chairs made remarks about the organization and its mission in DC, which is working to build a strong beat of commitment to heart health in the next generation of community leaders. It’s your friends and coworkers gathering to educate, inspire and develop the habit of philanthropy dedicated to changing the health of a new generation. The chair-people proudly announced that the night itself raised over $41,000 for the American Heart Association! After celebrating this achievement, the guests danced the night away to the music of DJ Greg Casement.

It was a beautiful event filled with inspiring people. We will definitely be back to support next year, and encourage others to do so as well. To learn more about PULSE DC, and The American Heart Association Greater Washington Region, please visit: PulseDC and AHA DC.
