Calling all health freaks and geeks (and anyone who wants a healthy boost)! If you’re a frequenter of Union Station you might have seen a new store pop up at the West Carriage Porch. Tasty6, co-founded by Vincent Renner, is a Washington DC based start up that launched July 8 and offers 1o cold pressed juices. Tasty6 is also available online for delivery in the DC metro area.
Made locally in Maryland – just outside the beltway – by hand with quality, raw, fresh, organic ingredients, Tasty6 juices are unpasteurized, gluten free, and packed with essential vitamins and minerals creating a nutrient-dense product meant to promote health and vitality. Bottled daily to ensure freshness and quality, Tasty6 juice options include Awaken-Liquid Gold (carrot, apple, lemon, ginger, Himalayan Salt), Glow-Radiant Infusion (cucumber, apple, celery, lemon, hint of jalapeno), Immunoxer-Green Delight (apple, cucumber, kale, spinach, parsley, ginger, lemon, Himalayan Salt), Refresh-Coco Cooler (coconut water, cucumber, lemon, mint, Himalayan Salt), Refresh-Cocoguayusa (coconut water, guayusa, pineapple, lemon, Himalayan salt), Refresh-Cocomelon (coconut water, watermelon, lemon, Himalayan Salt), Refresh-Cocomeric (grapefruit, pineapple, coconut water, apple, lemon, termeric, black pepper, Himalayan Salt), Seasonal-Summer Fresh (100% fruit & vegetable juice), Silhouette-Skinny Boost (grapefruit, apple, fennel, termeric, black pepper, Himalayan Salt), and Staminator-Beets Supreme (red beets, apple, parsley, cucumber, lemon, Himalayan salt).
“We designed our juices to fuse with our understanding of modern nutritional benefits and with the insights from over 5,000 year-old Eastern healing science of Ayurveda; one of its pillar is a balanced diet, achieved by ensuring that every meal includes all ‘6’ tastes –sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and pungent in order to provide the major food groups and nutrients to leave one feeling completely satisfied after a meal.” ~ Vincent Renner
Each juice contains 3 to 5 pounds of fruits and vegetables, explaining the slightly high cost of the juice with prices starting at just under $7. However, the cold press technique Renner uses with a hydrolic press, doesn’t produce excess pulp waste and instead grinds the whole of the ingredients into a pulp, then presses that pulp, squeezing out every last possible drop of juice.
